You want to be a smart consumer. I know looking for a wedding photographer is important because you want to make the best decision for your budget and your wedding.
If you think about it, Coke is Coke and you might as well buy it as cheaply as you can, but that is not the case when it comes to attorneys, hair stylists, or photographers. Each is very different and offers a wide variety of skill and artistry.
If you pay $1000 and your wedding pictures don’t move you, did you save money or waste it? If you paid $5000 and got decent wedding photos, but your photographer was stressed out, didn’t give you a great experience or didn’t deliver a stunning album, did you really save money or did you waste it?
I LOVE weddings and hopefully that comes across in my images. I not only strive to create beautiful, natural and evocative images, but do so in a manner that is kind, fun, helpful and insightful within the psychology of the moment. I like to go above and beyond before, during and after your wedding, not because I “have to”, but because I truly believe you deserve my very best each and every time I see you. 🙂
My basic wedding plan starts at just 1799. If you are looking for a photographer to help you with your most important day of your life, I hope you’ll call me. 541-726-6119
Having traveled to 49 countries and 49 states, I try to make it affordable for you to select me to be your photographer at that special location you find enchanting. I love to capture events and emotions no matter whether they be 2 blocks away, 2,000 miles away or 2 continents away.
Here in America, the state with the MOST weddings? Hawaii.
Soft sand beach wedding on Oahu Hawaii (Lanikai below):
Below: A private cove wedding I had recently in Maui. On Napili Beach- a beautiful venue near Kaanapali. Fortunately the rain turned into a gorgeous sunset just as the wedding began.
Recreating the “From Here to Eternity” pose. We did this “Trash the Dress” session the following day.
Dorothy, we’re not in Kansas anymore . . .
Out of the Country
If you are getting married outside the USA, I’d LOVE to talk to you. Being a consummate traveler, I can make you glad you contacted me. 🙂 I captured this image this summer while in Santorini Greece, a great place for a Destination Wedding.
Speaking of sandy beaches…Mexico, The Bahamas, Thailand, Costa Rica and California are all popular places for destination wedding venues.
From the romantic city of San Francisco to Palm Desert, the Golden State offers a ton of options.
Below is Los Angeles from a wedding I took at the Ritz Carlton in Pasadena. Posh.
Taken at Salish Lodge, a two hour drive east from Seattle. It was just the two of us, plus the officiant. Fun!
Click on the slide show on the home page and you’ll see a wide variety of images from New Orleans and the French Quarter.
Needless to say, it was awesome!
While we did most of the images on the strip in Las Vegas, the actual wedding was out in the desert in the Valley of Fire near Red Rock Canyon in Nevada at dusk.
Going to Salt Lake and seeing the LDS temple felt like being in Europe.
As a 5th generation Oregonian, I’ve always been proud of a state that has beauty everywhere. That is why some brides come from out of state to have an Oregon Destination wedding. Oregon has it’s own benefits from our beaches, Mt. Hood, Portland, Central and Eastern Oregon, the Columbia Gorge, and the Willamette Valley (below)
Some of my favorite spots in some of Oregon’s most scenic and special destinations.
The Oregon Coast
Florence is a great outdoor wedding venue for Oregon photographers. The Bed and Breakfast at Heceta Head is a very stunning venue. The image below on the beach was taken after the ceremony and the image below after the sun set.
The Newport area has an abundance of bed and breakfasts, lovely hotels, and private beach houses, all wonderful wedding venues
I highly recommend Cottages at Cape Kiwanda in Pacific City for your Oregon Coast wedding. Not long ago I was the wedding photographer for a wedding in Gearhart (near Seaside) on a golf course at the McMenamins resort, but with beach access! .
I love the Surf and Sand Resort in Cannon Beach (below), it seems like you can never go wrong with the coast-so long as you get lucky with the weather.
Dusk on the coast near Lincoln City Oregon
Mt. Hood Bed and Breakfast is conveniently located near Portland and Mt. Hood. I have photographed a wedding couple and their wedding party at Multnomah Falls in the Columbia Gorge and it was awesome. The Mt. Hood area is an agricultural paradise with organic farms which will cater to your wedding needs. One is Mt. Hood Organic Farms, which would be a great place for a destination wedding weekend. Plus, it is near the Columbia Gorge, with all its waterfalls.
This wedding below was at Edgewater Country Club near Gresham Oregon.
Wallowa, Oregon is in the far northeast part of the state, and has a rich Native American history. When you see photographs of the Wallowa Mountains from the nearby town of Joseph, you’ll know why this part of Oregon is called “Little Switzerland”.
Thank you for your patience and professionalism-we are so pleased with your work. You and your assistant were such a joy to work with. The wedding photography is incredible. You guys are wonderful!Jennifer & Phil West,
Central Oregon Weddings is a good resource to turn to when you’re ready to plan your wedding in Bend or Redmond. I just photographed this wedding in Sisters Oregon.
Sunriver is a popular Central Oregon vacation destination, and weddings at The Sunriver Resort boast spectacular mountain scenery. My parents lived there for many years and I was fortunate to photograph several weddings in the snow. The resort offers intimate rooms for small wedding parties or magnificent halls to accommodate large groups.
We wanted to thank you both for the wonderful work you did on our wedding photographs. Our album is spectacular and far exceeds anything we ever expected! We were impressed with the level of professionalism you both showed on the wedding day. On what could have been a very stressful day for us, we were both completely at ease & thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Thank you again for all that you did for us. It was a real pleasure working with you!Kate & Matt Freitag,
Eugene and Springfield
Carriage Ride in Springfield Oregon
Eugene and Lane County is blessed by numerous wineries and parks which cater to weddings, including the University of Oregon campus. Chateau Lorane offers all the elements of a beautiful wedding alongside flowers and a private lake. Paradise Springs near Monroe,(see below) is a fun wedding venue for both brides and photographers as it offers a large wood banquet reception hall with their own mill and pond in the forest. Indoor and outdoor wedding ceremonies are also available at the Sweet Cheeks Winery, which is one of the largest wineries in the Willamette Valley, giving you the option of photographs with beautiful open vineyards – like this infrared image below:
The Country Inn allows for an intimate wedding in the middle of gorgeous Oregon gardens in the heart of the Willamette Valley. Run away to Whisper~n~Oaks in Junction City to wed your loved one under towering oaks in a vast garden-bordered lawn near wheat fields. The Pfeiffer Winery, located in the south Willamette Valley among rolling hills, will light up your life for an evening. Eugene’s sister city, Springfield, is surrounded by forestland, rolling hillsides dotted with wineries, and the wild beauty of both the Willamette and McKenzie Rivers.
Both Dorris Ranch (below) and Mt. Pisgah offer nice country settings.
Bruce, Thank you for being our wedding photographer. The images are beautiful and your easy style made us comfortable and relaxed. You and your staff were very professional and courteous. Thanks for giving us beautiful memories!Katharine and Rob Kappa
The Oregon State University Alumni Center in Corvallis, Oregon, would be a great place for a wedding for any Beaver fan. The Corvallis Country Club offers full catering in a beautiful setting. This is a wedding at the Vue (see image right) and we also took images on the Oregon State Campus.
Salem and Albany
In the Albany, Oregon area, The Garden In The Woods is one of the nicest places for a wedding. Stayton Oregon, by Salem, is home to The Oregon Garden. I was a photographer for a wedding there recently and its an absolutely beautiful place for a wedding venue.
You were the wedding photographer for the Oregon wedding of Shaun & Lennie Marcott, who are relatives of mine.Their pictures were absolutely stunning. You captured the romance and happiness of the day . . .everything was beautifully done.Rebecca Sampietro,
Besides photographing many weddings in Roseburg and Cottage Grove, I must confess that Crater Lake National Park (above) has been one of my favorite places for the views. How can one beat the 3rd deepest lake in the world?
There are many old, beautiful churches in the Portland, Oregon area in which to plan your perfect wedding. One great wedding venue in downtown Portland is The Governor Hotel. This luxury hotel offers every accommodation and comfort for your Portland, Oregon wedding. I’ve also taken wedding portraits at the Benson Hotel downtown and Edgefield near Gresham, both of which are wonderful places and a photographers dream.
We are just so pleased with our wedding portraits you took in 1991. We have a beautiful portrait in our hall and we show off the album as much as possible. We have sat down every year on our anniversary and looked through the memories together. Thank you.Ron Schrodt
Whether your wedding is in Italy, Hawaii, California or Oregon-the need for quality, professional photographs (and a photographer with the right decorum) is paramount to remember the most important day of your life.
